Hey everybody!
Well I've been working hard at having a good attitude today-- because it has taken me probably 45 minutes to download these pictures onto this blog (so I hope you enjoy them-- set them as your desktop, order your own reprints...j/k :) ) and I've been working on a research paper since Tuesday....that I frankly have no desire whatsoever to be working on while on vacation...I just want to be outside reading a good book and soaking up the sun or sitting in the spa or something, but this paper is due on Wednesday and I need to be diligent. Pray that I would not be frustrated but just rely upon the Lord's grace (but poor yet gracious parents are so good at putting up with me and my mood swings! You don't want to be around me when I am stressed or having computer issues, let me assure you!!)-- I keep reminding myself of Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Anyway, now that I have poured out to you my Kentucky woes :)))...let me give you an update! Thanks for patiently awaiting one...now you know why it was so delayed.
OK.....So, last I left off I was telling you about my work-out yesterday....I got back and started pounding out some words on the keyboard and had fun talking to my sister and Katie Hamilton on AIM. Then my mom made me take a break from writing (in order to preserve my sanity--whatever remnant of sanity I have that is :)) and we went to our hotel Starbucks & I got a skinny cinnamon dolce latte and a cream cheese pastry (hmmmmm....kinda contradictory I know). I had to do econ while I ate my breakfast, but that was OK. Then my parents had a TMS alumni BBQ lunch at the conference....but I decided to stay in the hotel room and work on my paper for a bit. When my mom got back, we went on a refreshing walk and spent about an hour and a half in Borders Bookstore, and that was really fun. My mom read this really cool book (THE ENTIRE THING--275 pgs.--IN AN HOUR AND A HALF, she's a crazy speed reader!!) called Mistaken Identity that was about two Christian friends and fellow college students that looked alike & that got in a car accident and were really disfigured and one died and one lived, but the weird thing is that the family who's daughter died thought their daughter was the one who was alive in the hospital....and the family who's daughter lived thought their daughter was the one who had died & so they went through all the funeral preparations...only a few days later did the families find out the truth & the book talks about how they responded to it. So while my mom was reading this profound and Christ-exalting book I was reading an ahhhhem, bridal magazine for an hour and a half....which I assure you is ALSO very profound (it talks about Swarovski crystals) and Christ-exalting (just read Genesis 2 my friends!)
Anyway, moving on ;), after that we walked back to the hotel and my dad got back and we went to the Old Spaghetti Factory--which was DELICIOUS! Best food I've had all week by far (there's your daily food update!!) The inside was really fun--chandeliers everywhere and a fake trolley car in the middle of the restaurant you could eat inside of! My mom and I ordered the "Number 2 Platter" :D to split which was spinach and cheese ravioli and spaghetti with "rich" meat sauce and I got an Italian vanilla cream soda (the meal also came with salad, fresh, hot bread and spumoni...AMAZING Italian ice cream, almost tasted like neopolitan to me!) A definite highlight of the day for me was interviewing my dad about what his military career was like before I was born (I needed this info for my research paper that I am writing, it was so interesting, I learned so many things I didn't know, he was a missile launch officer during th Cold War--so he had some very cool stories I assure you!)
After dinner, we came back to our hotel room--chilled out and then met up with some old friends from our church in Alabama in the hotel lobby---then I went back to my room and worked some more on my paper (drinking sweet tea and working on my paper---the two main themes of my week!)
When my parents came back after visiting with their friends, we all CRASHED....it was the first night I actually slept well, I was so tired!
Then this morning...I worked on my paper some more (it better get an A!!) and my mom got me a skinny latte and a bagel and cream cheese from Starbucks...she is so kind to me, she knows how to cheer me up! :)
Then after a few hours, my mom made me take a break and we walked around Louisville again...we explored the Convention Center some more....let me tell you the books they are selling at the conference are INCREDIBLE....I want to read them all (only problem is there were about a hundred of them!! :)) Then we went into the Louisville Visitor's Center and it had a display on Colonel Sanders (aka the "Kentucky Fried Chicken Man!" :) ) They had a very lifelike mannequin of him...but we forgot our camera...so I'll try to get a pic. with him later today (I have this thing for mannequins...and this one beats the debonnaire studs at the mall...because HE'S HOLDING A BUCKET OF FRIED CHICKEN!)
Anyway, we've been back for an hour or so....and I've been working on my paper....and loading the pictures you are now enjoying (OR BETTER BE ENJOYING ;o) ) for about 45 min.
The conference ends today, so all the organizations are taking down their booths and wrapping up their fellowship...so we're just waiting on my dad to get back, before we leave to go sightsee some more and I GET TO LEAVE THIS TEMPERMENTAL LAPTOP!
Hope you all are having a great day back in the Golden State!
Ou revoir from the Bluegrass state,
Mollie
